Artist Statement

My current work focuses on my relationship to femininity and culture. I work in a graphic style, primarily using ink drawn upon large sheets of paper. Within these drawings, I depict self-portraits with long tresses of winding, curling hair tangled in hands, feet, Puerto Rican Amazon birds, and a variety of flora from the region where I grew up and the Island of Puerto Rico. Among this imagery, I incorporate a range of patterned fabrics and textiles that cloak and camouflage the figure.
